Postpartum Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy

Our Physical Therapists assist in the natural healing process of the body and address any postpartum physical symptoms. Our comprehensive approach combines different techniques for optimal care.

Manual therapy, which includes hands-on treatment, such as muscle kneading, joint mobilization, and joint manipulation, is used to treat musculoskeletal pain and disability.

Trigger point therapy targets pain sources through cycles of isolated pressure and release. Scar management is designed to improve healing, reduce sensitivity, and minimize restrictions at the site of surgical cuts and perineal tears.

Muscle training may involve lengthening or relaxing tight muscles or strengthening weak, underactive muscles. Bowel and bladder training is also available to help new moms regain control of bladder and bowel function.

Pelvic Floor Rehab can help with postpartum issues such as urinary and bowel problems, pelvic pain, diastasis recti, and pelvic organ prolapse. While Kegels can be helpful for weak pelvic floors, they may not solve every issue, and improper execution can worsen symptoms.
