[DECEMBER 17, 2025] – Meeker Memorial Hospital & Clinics (MMHC) is pleased to officially announce plans for a significant Ambulatory Care Expansion designed to meet the growing healthcare needs of the community. With portions of the current hospital more than 70 years old, many spaces no longer support modern technology or patient-care standards. This project will create a more efficient, safe, and patient-centered environment—positioning MMHC to serve the region for generations to come. 

A Vision for the Future

Working in partnership with BWBR as the project architect and RJM Construction as the construction manager, MMHC is moving forward with a transformational expansion that includes a multi-story addition of more than 70,000 square feet and extensive interior updates to the existing 2009 hospital building. The project will bring the East and West Clinics together into one streamlined space, expand rehabilitation services, and upgrade key clinical areas such as the laboratory, infusion and chemotherapy services, and Emergency Department safety features. Additional improvements include reducing redundancy across admitting, lab, and imaging services, creating a new main entrance on Sibley Avenue, and implementing the city-approved closure of Lockerbie Street, along with the relocation of MMHC-owned homes on that street. While the existing clinic buildings are owned by CentraCare and their future use is still being determined, MMHC emphasizes that patient care will not be disrupted during construction, as services will continue uninterrupted throughout the project.

The investment will be supported entirely through MMHC’s internal resources, external financing, and a capital campaign.” 

Why This Matters 

MMHC’s current facilities limit the organization’s ability to support advancing technologies and evolving patient-care needs. Renovating the existing spaces was thoroughly evaluated, but the cost would exceed that of constructing new, purpose-built facilities—and still fail to meet today’s requirements. The new design will significantly improve safety, enhance technology integration, and elevate the overall patient experience. Additionally, the expanded and modernized environment will support staff recruitment and retention efforts while ensuring MMHC continues to meet essential federal compliance standards. 

Project Timeline  

Throughout 2025, MMHC finalized the project plan, completing a comprehensive traffic study, and obtaining the necessary city approvals. In addition, the proposal was approved by the Hospital Board and Meeker County. Construction work inside the existing 2009 building is expected to begin in 2026, with a formal groundbreaking for the new addition planned for summer 2026. All construction phases have been intentionally designed to maintain full access to patient care, ensuring services continue without interruption throughout the project.
