[April 29, 2025] – Meeker Memorial Hospital & Clinics is proud to announce a significant investment in the future of pharmaceutical care with the launch of a $2.3 million pharmacy upgrade project which began this month and targeted for completion by September 2025.
This strategic initiative will expand the hospital’s capacity to compound medications beyond the current 12–24-hour window, allowing for improved medication availability, cost efficiency, and streamlined inventory management. Most importantly, it will directly benefit patients undergoing chemotherapy and infusion treatments—services Meeker anticipates will grow significantly over the next decade. The upgraded pharmacy will also bring Meeker Memorial into full alignment with evolving regulatory requirements, ensuring continued excellence in safety, quality, and compliance.

Currently staffed with five pharmacists and a pharmacy technician. Jamie Erickson, who works on both the clinic and hospital sides, plays a key role in ensuring pharmaceutical interventions are tailored to minimize side effects and medication interactions. “Our role is more than dispensing medication—it’s about being a resource for providers and patients alike,” said Erickson. “With chronic conditions like diabetes on the rise, having expert support in both settings is more important than ever.”
The project will be carried out by Knutson Construction, selected after a rigorous vetting process involving nine firms. Their extensive healthcare experience and advanced technological capabilities made them the ideal choice for this critical upgrade.
As part of the renovation, a former labor and delivery area will be transformed into a post-C-section recovery suite, ensuring the third-floor pharmacy remains close to patient care areas. Special venting systems will be installed to support the new pharmacy’s operations with minimal disruption to ongoing services. Once complete, the pharmacy upgrade will reduce the need for patients to travel to other facilities for infusion treatments.

An Open House event will be held at the completion of the project, inviting the community to tour the improved facility and learn more about its expanded capabilities.
